On Wednesday, we had our first class field trip to the Kennedy Center to see the National Symphony Orchestra. There were over 2,000 fourth grade students from Fairfax County in one auditorium...so you can imagine the energy in the room! Below is a list of what the class learned from the concert:
A BIG thank you to Mrs. Perry for chaperoning!
- Composers can get their inspiration from weather. We heard them play a summer storm.
- Composers are inspired by nature. We heard them play a river.
- In the orchestra, they have more than just strings instruments. They have maracas, brass instruments, trumpets, flutes, woodwinds, etc.
- Composers get their inspiration from places (Cuba), Art (Junk Art) and Actions.
